Elder Evans Visits Our Mission - May 1, 2017

What a wonderful week for us to meet a General authority-Elder Evans . He currently serves in the Asia Area Presidency. The scripture assignment to read and the training was very inspiring. I learned many things from that training, One of the things that I have learned is the importance of faithfulness in God's work which increases our capacity to share the Gospel and even strengthens our determination, hope and confidence.

While I was reading the assignment given in preparation to meet the general authority,  one was from Alma chapter 24 where the lamanites comes to destroy Anti- Nephi-Lehies people, but the Anti- Nephi-Lehies people would not raise their weapon against their brother and laid down on earth when the lamanites came upon them.
Verse 21. Now when the people saw that they were coming against them they went out to meet them, and prostrated themselves before them to the earth, and began to call on the name of the Lord; and thus they were in this attitude when the Lamanites began to fall upon them, and began to slay them with the sword.

22. And thus without meeting any resistance, they did slay a thousand and five of them; and we know that they are blessed, for they have gone to dwell with their God.

But seeing the Anti- Nephi-Lehies being killed but would not raise weapon against them the Lamanites heart are soften and they are converted to Christ.

26 . And it came to pass that the people of God were joined that day by more than the number who had been slain; and those who had been slain were righteous people, therefore we have no reason to doubt but what they were saved.

27. And there was not a wicked man slain among them; but there were more than a thousand brought to the knowledge of the truth; thus we see that the Lord worketh in many ways to the salvation of his people.

I have compared this with the life of Joseph Smith even though he was hated and persecuted he did not go against them but suffered with patience. Even though Joseph Smith died, now in this days we can see many thousands of people converted to Christ. And we see that God's ways is not our way but he worketh his ways to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of men.

I was assigned to give a talk in sacrament meeting I chose the topic 'Every member is a Missionary.'
At first I thought to point out to members that they should do missionary work and help us but the next day I was praying about it and in the same day I had a feeling that rather than pointing on members on what they should do, I should speak on How to do missionary work. So in my talk I simply stated some of the simple ways for members to do missionary work. I know that It was very helpful for the members.

At the Chennai airport to pick up Elder Evans.

Meeting with Elder Evans and our Mission President.
