Meeting with the New Mission President - July 18, 2016

Hello
How are you all?

This week we met with our new mission president and his wife.
They came to Rajahmundry as they were doing a tour of mission areas.

I was very happy to meet them and know them. and I also had an Interview with the new mission president so he could get to know me better also.

The week here went well and smoothly.

As I was reading my scriptures, I found some that I would like to share with you.  It is found in Alma 26:12-20 in the Book of Mormon.

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.
13 Behold, how many thousands of our brethren has he loosed from the pains of hell; and they are brought to sing redeeming love, and this because of the power of his word which is in us, therefore have we not great reason to rejoice?
14 Yea, we have reason to praise him forever, for he is the Most High God, and has loosed our brethren from the chains of hell.
15 Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting darkness and destruction; but behold, he has brought them into his everlasting light, yea, into everlasting salvation; and they are encircled about with the matchless bounty of his love; yea, and we have been instruments in his hands of doing this great and marvelous work.
16 Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.
17 Who could have supposed that our God would have been so merciful as to have snatched us from our awful, sinful, and polluted state?
18 Behold, we went forth even in wrath, with mighty threatenings to destroy his church.
19 Oh then, why did he not consign us to an awful destruction, yea, why did he not let the sword of his justice fall upon us, and doom us to eternal despair?
20 Oh, my soul, almost as it were, fleeth at the thought. Behold, he did not exercise his justice upon us, but in his great mercy hath brought us over that everlasting gulf of death and misery, even to the salvation of our souls.

Branch Reorganization in Rajahmundry - July 11, 2016

Hello Everyone
How are ya all doing ?

I am doing fine here in Dowleswaram. I had a good week here. We are still doing a lot of door knocking here and trying to find the people whom God has prepared for us. This week at church we saw the branch reorganized and a new presidency formed.  Change is good, and the Lord will help these righteous men lead the members.

Some thing different happened at church too beside the branch reorganization.  All the investigators that we expected to attend sacrament meeting did not show up.  This was sad, but the one investigator whom I did not expect to attend church did come.  We were happy about his attendance.

Romans 5:2-4

2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience ;
4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Enjoy the Scripture!!

Lots of Hard Work and Door Knocking - July 4, 2016

Hello
Good morning

This week we did lots of door-knocking in our area, shared the message of restoration with them but we could not find many people to count as investigators as they were not interested so much. But I am still happy for our hard work.

While we were door-knocking this week, we knocked at one house.  One lady came (she was christian) and as I said who we were and what we do, she seemed really angry with us. She said "do this thing in another home.  It is not OKAY to be in my home. She went inside.
We moved on to the next home which was a Hindu home and there was also one lady but she could not understand English.  We were not able to have a conversation with her so we left and turned back.   As we were about to go to the next home, the first angry lady we had met earlier came out of her home and smiled and said in polite way "If you want to do this kind of work, you have to first know the language."  I did not explain to her why we do not learn the language. Anyway I was happy because her anger changed into a cheery smile because she was watching our hard work.

Well if I have not said this thing before, I will now.  My Companion is super slow. He is slow in every thing and that means he is also a Super slow eater .
Whenever we have a meal appointment  at a member's or Investigator's home, I can eat four plates of food while he is still not done with his one plate.  By the time I am finished with my first plate and I take my second plate, I am very full.  But members try to feed me more as they see that I am out of food and my companion is still eating. Nowadays I have a better Idea.  I also eat super slow so I do not have to eat so much and I can escape over eating. I am now more like my companion, and I eat SUPER SLOW.

We met our new mission President last week. They are  the Mortensens from the USA.

The Scriptures Are A Blessing - June 27, 2016

Hello Good morning and Namaste to all my friends and my family.

How are you doing?
We have been blessed by God this  week because it's raining most of the time here. But other days are still hot and humid.

This week i have been pondering in Scriptures a-lot. It is such a wonderful gift of God to us which helps us to know who we really are and what we should do in order to have  eternal life .

1 Nephi 15:23-24
 23. And they said unto me: What meaneth the rod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?
 24. And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.
In this vision the tree of life, the iron rod is the only way someone can reach the tree of life.  Holding on to the rod of iron is not easy.  There are so many obstacle on the way. Some people find the way very hard and give-up and some are driven away by temptations of Satan.
But those people who hold tightly to the Iron rod will reach the Tree of life feel the love of God and receive Eternal Life.
Here the tree of life is Eternal Life and the Iron rod which leads to it is the word of God. So it is very Essential to hold onto the Scriptures every day of our life so that at the end they will lead us to Eternal life.  To earn Eternal Life should be our goal, because that is where true happiness can be found.

District Conference - June 20, 2016

Hello Everyone
This past week was wonderful in Rajahmundry District because we had a District conference here.  This was our last Interview with Our Mission President and we  also got to meet Elder Williams of the Seventy .
It was a blessing for us to be able to meet together one last time with our mission President and his wife and to also meet Elder Williams.

It was also the Farewell to our Mission President.
We will have a new Mission President in about 2 weeks.

Sister Berrett reminded us of President Hinckley's words that Every new convert needs Three things - A friend, a responsibility, and a nurturing with the good words of God.  I feel that these three things are necessary to retain a convert in Church and in Gospel.

 1 Nephi 1:20
20 And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast outand stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.

Love,
Elder Shrestha.

Sister Swurapa's Baptism - June 13, 2016

Hello every one
How are you all doing? How was your week?

This week we had one Baptism. Her name is Sister Swurapa. We met her 3 weeks back and set her Baptism date.  First she wondered how she could believe the gospel is true in 3 weeks.  But As we taught her all the lessons and as she read Book of Mormon daily, she knew the answer that the Book was true. We had her Baptism yesterday.

This coming week we are having  District conference of Rajahmundry. So this Sunday we are attending District Conference.

There is one Beautiful Scripture in the Book of Mormon about the Purpose of Baptism
It's from 2 Nephi 31:6-7.

And now, I would ask of you, my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfill all righteousness in being baptized by water? Know ye not that he was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments.

Have good week
See ya

The Work Continues in Rajahmundry - June 6, 2016

Good afternoon Everyone
How are you?
How was your week?

This week also it was kind of cool here in Rajahmundry because of the rain.
We had an okay week.  We had some good lessons and some rather odd lessons.  One of those odd ones was when we met a mother and son while we were door knocking.  They said that we were trying to say that God is a dictator because he gave that power only to Joseph Smith and to our church.

We do have one solid Investigator who is having her Baptism this coming Sunday.  She is really understanding the gospel in her life, and we are pretty sure that she will be a very strong member in our church .

I would like to Quote President Monson's  talk from last general conference

"May we ever choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong."

I also want to share Scripture about Agency which is from 2 Nephi 2:27

 27) Wherefore, men are free according to the fleshand all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal lifethrough the great Mediator of  all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the   captivity and power of the devil;for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.
 28) And now, my sons, would that ye should look to the great Mediatorand hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit.

Crazy Weather Here in Rajahmundry - May 30, 2016

Hello everyone,

We experienced some crazy weather here in Rajahmundry. It was rainy.  It was super windy and it's 46 degree Celsius  with lots of humidity. We have one Investigator with whom we had the longest lesson of our mission.  It was more than a 4 hour lesson.  We used a lot of questions and lots of different answers and examples to help him understand. Finally we had YES for Baptism, but he is struggling to quit using Coffee.  Now we are trying to help him to leave coffee so that he  can be Baptized soon.

We have one other Investigator who is a cousin of our member family.  She has a good knowledge of the Bible and she started reading the Book of Mormon before we had a lesson with her. She is super curious about the Book of Mormon and our church. We are doing our best to help her .

This week  I liked these verses very much which I also shared with two of our members.

Here they are:
Alma 32:41-43
41)But if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow, by your faith with  great diligence, and with patiencelooking forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold it shall be tree springing up unto everlasting life.
 42) And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the word in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and pure above all that  is pure; and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye  thirst.
43 Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and  long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you.
